Our Ministries

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace.

Lutheran World Relief

Prince of Peace contributes to Lutheran World Relief with hand crafted quilts sewn by talented church members who meet weekly in fellowship throughout the year.  The youth group also organizes  the collection of items for school kits and personal item kits.  Lutheran World Relief is an international non-governmental organization that focuses on sustainable development projects and disaster relief and recovery.

Operation

Children's Christmas

Filling shoe-boxes for Operation Christmas Child has been one of our most loved service projects for many years.  We expanded our involvement and  are now volunteering as a Drop-off Location for the Mahoning Valley.  As one of nearly 5,000 locations across the nation, our member volunteers welcome and pray with community members who drop off OCC shoe-boxes while other volunteers fill cartons and load trucks with  hundreds of shoe-boxes for onward distribution to children around the world.

POP Youth Group & Choir

We are very proud of our small but mighty Youth Group & Choir. They lead the way with so many of POP's community service projects.  The Coins for a Cause change collection is held the last Sunday of each month with quarterly donations to area organizations such as Salvation Army, Project Making Kids Count, and Akron Children's Hospital Boardman.  They hold "drive by" food drives a couple times a year and a SouperBowl food drive the weekend of the NFL Super Bowl for the Poland Food Pantry.  During our Pet Service in September, they collect items for donation to one of our local animal shelters.  Our Christmas hat & mitten tree donations are taken to the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley.

Community

Events

Prince of Peace hosts a variety of annual events for the greater community.  In the spring we host an annual Easter Egg Hunt with candy filled eggs, games and prizes.  June brings our Trunk Sale & Market held in our parking lot.  We also participate in the late June Celebrate Poland festival. In October, Pastor holds a Blessing of the Pets service and later in the month we have our Trunk or Treat party - decorate your trunk and join us in the fun ... trick or treating, food, bonfires and more.

God's Work.

Our Hands.

This day is an opportunity to celebrate who we are as the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America – one church, freed in Christ to serve and love our neighbor.  Service activities offer an opportunity for us to explore one of our most basic convictions as Lutherans: that all of life in Jesus Christ – every act of service, in every daily calling, in every corner of life – flows freely from a living, daring confidence in God’s grace.  We work every day to make your community a better place.

St Pauly Donation Shed

st pauly shed sgn.JPG

Our clothing shed, provided by St. Pauly Textile, Inc., offers a convenient drop-off location for community members to re-purpose usable clothing, shoes, blankets, sheets, drapes, and stuffed toys.  These items go  to people who can use them, here in the U.S. and in developing countries, while having a meaningful impact in our local community.
